The International Philatelic Press Club was formed in 1964 by the famous philatelic journalist Ernest A. Kehr. It was modeled after the Overseas Press Club and the National Press Club. During his lifetime Mr. Kehr received just about every philatelic award a stamp writer could get both nationally and internationally. The International Philatelic Press Club is an association of professional philatelic journalists united to maintain the highest standards of writing about stamps and stamp collecting. It cooperates with postal administrations around the world to bring readers the best possible news coverage. The IPPC has correspondent Associates in 7 different countries. Although Mr. Kehr died in 1986, The IPPC remains and continues to promote the ideals it founder to advance interest in stamp collecting and promote informative and honest philatelic journalism.
