Changes in Japanese Stamps Uniform (12/13)

(From 1970 to 1975)

o Changing times brought an end to the bluish gray uniform and the Ministry once again endeavored to produce a design that reflected the modern age. In 1971 a cheerful dark blue uniform was adopted. The material was a blend of wool and polyester that had been used since 1965.
The slightly open-collared men's jacket with four buttons was replaced with a suit-like jacket with three buttons and side vents. It was more streamlined, with a fastener used in the front opening of the trousers. The women's jacket was open-collared with four buttons and pockets which were cut diagonally. This was coupled with a straight skirt with no pleats in front whose length brought it to about five centimeters above the knee.

Oo The color of the uniform was changed to dark blue in 1971, making it the same color as the necktie. In 1973, however, the color of the necktie was changed to dark red to better match the uniform.
o The new midsummer uniform from 1977 had a stand-up collar instead of the open collar, enabling a necktie to be worn.
